So we've been lucky enough to cast the great Chris Starkie as Donald in 'Young Pretender'. We caught up with him to ask him some questions about his thoughts on the play and acting in general....
1) Tell us a little bit about your character in 'Young Pretender'.
At this point in rehearsals, I dont think I've shook hands with Donald yet. I know the facts: he's an honest man, lives in the Highlands, has a daughter and a wife, and is seduced by (Bonnie Prince) Charlie's idea of rebellion.
2) What drew you to this project and your character in particular?
At the audition I got a really good feeling about the company and the play.
3) What's been the most challenging aspect of the role?
It's one of the hardest characters to find a rhythm or style or form for. I'm very cautious in my approach towards Donald's character.
4) Is this your first time at the Fringe? (If yes - what are you anticipating? If not - what have you learnt from previous visits?)
No. I'm looking forward to presenting something brand new. Last year I was only a spectator and it didn't feel right.
5) What inspired you to become an actor?
Arnold Schwarzengger: Total Recall. Legend.
6) If you could work with anyone, who would it be?
Pamela Anderson.
Great answers there. Though, Chris was surprised and shocked to hear Total Recall is being made with Colin Farrell. And without Pamela Anderson. One day, Chris... One day.
